How do we choose the vehicle for moving and transportation?

Choosing a vehicle for a move depends not only on whether the items "fit" into a van or truck. It is necessary to consider the total quantity, weight, and dimensions of the items, the accessibility of the property, the distance between addresses, and how the items will be arranged in the cargo space.

When organizing moving and transportation, we take into account:

• the total quantity of items and furniture
• the approximate weight of the load
• the dimensions of the largest pieces
• the type and fragility of the items
• the need for furniture disassembly
• the number of workers needed
• floor level and availability of an elevator
• the possibility of vehicle access and parking
• the distance between the starting and ending addresses
• the number of transport trips required

The goal is to select a vehicle that matches the actual volume of the move, avoiding unnecessary use of an oversized vehicle, but also preventing additional trips caused by choosing one that is too small.

The quantity of items determines the vehicle size

One of the most important factors when organizing transport is the volume of items to be moved.

A smaller number of boxes, a few pieces of furniture, or the contents of a small apartment can often be transported by van. For a complete move of a larger apartment, house, or office space, a vehicle with a larger cargo area may be necessary.

Therefore, it is not enough to simply count the pieces of furniture. It is important to estimate how much space they occupy when properly protected and arranged in the vehicle.

For small to medium quantities of items, van moving in Belgrade is often the most practical option, while larger quantities require a vehicle with appropriate capacity.

The weight of the cargo is just as important as its volume

Two moves can occupy approximately the same space in the vehicle but have completely different total weights.

Boxes with clothes, bedding, and lighter household items do not impose the same load as books, documents, heavy furniture, appliances, or other heavy objects.

That is why when choosing a vehicle, its permissible load capacity is taken into account, not just the dimensions of the cargo space.

A large piece of furniture can pose a problem even when there is enough total space in the vehicle.

Tall wardrobes, corner sofas, large tables, double beds, and other bulky pieces must be able to safely pass through the vehicle entrance and be properly placed in the cargo space.

Therefore, for larger pieces, we check the dimensions and assess whether they should be transported whole or disassembled beforehand.

If disassembly is necessary, we can organize furniture disassembly and assembly as part of the complete service.

Proper disassembly often allows better use of space in the vehicle, easier carrying out, and safer transport.

When is a van sufficient for a move?

A van is practical when the amount of items does not require a large transport vehicle and is especially suitable for urban conditions.

It can be used for smaller moves, transporting individual pieces of furniture, a certain number of boxes, moving a small apartment, or part of a larger move.

An advantage of the van is easier access to streets and locations where parking space is limited.

For very small jobs, we can also organize small moves, where the number of workers and vehicle size are adjusted to the actual amount of items.

When is it better to use a truck?

For larger moves, the goal is to transport as many items as possible in one well-organized trip.

If the amount of furniture, boxes, and other items exceeds the capacity of a van, hiring a larger vehicle can be more rational than several consecutive trips with a smaller vehicle.

Moving truck is especially useful for larger apartments, houses, business premises, and moves involving a large amount of furniture.

However, a larger vehicle is not automatically a better solution. Before hiring, it is necessary to check the accessibility of the property, parking space, and other conditions at both locations.

Vehicle access and parking in front of the property

In moving transport, how close the vehicle can get to the entrance is very important.

If the vehicle is parked directly in front of the property, carrying out and loading are much easier. When it must be parked tens of meters away, every piece of furniture and every box must be carried additionally to the vehicle.

This is especially important for moves in Belgrade, where parking, narrow streets, one-way traffic, and limited space in front of the building can significantly affect the organization of the job.

Therefore, when arranging the move, it is important to mention if there is difficult access at the starting or ending address.

Floor, elevator, and distance from the vehicle

Transport between two addresses is only one part of the move. Before items reach the vehicle, they must be safely carried out of the property, and after transport, carried back in.

A high floor without an elevator, a small elevator that cannot accommodate furniture, narrow stairs, or a long distance between the entrance and parking directly affect the organization method.

In such situations, we determine the appropriate number of workers and organize the job as a moving service with laborers to coordinate loading and unloading with transportation.

One large or multiple smaller transport trips?

For every move, we try to minimize the number of trips to a reasonable level.

A vehicle that is too small may require multiple trips, increasing driving time, repeated loading and unloading, and potentially unnecessary costs.

On the other hand, there is no reason to hire a large vehicle if the items can be easily transported with a smaller one.

Therefore, the vehicle is chosen based on the actual volume of items, not on the principle that the largest vehicle is always the best.

Transporting items over longer distances

The greater the distance between addresses, the more important it is to accurately estimate the required space.

In city moves, an additional trip can mean another drive through several Belgrade neighborhoods. In intercity transport, the same mistake can add hundreds of extra kilometers.

For relocations between different cities, the organization adapts to the principles of intercity moves, where planning a well-organized single transport trip is even more crucial.

What if items cannot be moved directly to the new address?

Sometimes, transport cannot be completed by direct transfer from the old to the new address.

The new property may not yet be ready, keys may not have been collected, or some furniture may temporarily have no place.

In such cases, items can be temporarily stored through the storage service for goods and belongings and later transported to the final address.

It is important to know the need for storage in advance so that items can be properly packed, labeled, and organized for later transport.

How do we determine which vehicle is needed?

The client does not need to calculate the volume of each piece of furniture themselves.

In most cases, it is sufficient for us to receive basic information: the size of the apartment or space, photos of the items, a list of larger furniture pieces, the number of boxes, and details of both addresses.

Based on this, we can assess whether a van, a larger transport vehicle, or a different arrangement is needed.
