After the move is complete, the next phase is cleaning and preparing the space for handover or new occupants. The post-move cleaning service by the Moja Selidba team includes removal of leftover items, basic cleaning, and organized waste disposal by arrangement. Our approach is tailored to the type of property, size of the space, and specific client requirements. Our experience enables efficient assessment and execution of cleaning and clearing, whether it’s an apartment, house, or commercial space. After an apartment move, it is especially important to remove packaging and check all rooms.

We have encountered challenges such as removing bulky items from narrow hallways or organizing cleaning in hard-to-access spaces, which contributes to our expertise in the final stages of moving.

What remains to be cleaned once the apartment is emptied

Post-move cleaning includes dust removal, surface wiping, and removal of small waste and packaging from all rooms. The team uses standard cleaning supplies and tools for basic hygiene of the apartment or commercial space – brooms, dustpans, buckets, sponges, and universal cleaning agents. The work is done after all items have been removed, with special attention to rooms most used during the move: hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, and living rooms.

We regularly check shelves, drawers, and inside closets to remove any remaining personal belongings. The goal is to leave the space clean and tidy for handover or arrival of new occupants.

Leftover items are not the same as cleaning the space

Clearing the space means physically removing all items, while cleaning refers to removing dirt and basic tidying of the environment. These services can be arranged together or separately, depending on the client’s needs. During clearing, forgotten items, documents, or devices often surface that need to be specially marked for removal or retention.

Removal of leftover items before final tidying

Before cleaning begins, it is important to clearly agree on which items should be removed and where to place them. We provide labor and a vehicle for transport to agreed locations. The client marks items to remain, and everything else is recorded for removal. This usually involves removing old chairs, appliances, electronics, or carpets that are no longer needed.

For larger quantities, waste is grouped for easier loading. It is recommended to create a list of items for removal to ensure efficient organization and a faster process. All types of waste and leftover items can be taken to a landfill or recycling center, according to prior agreement.

  • Removal of unnecessary furniture that is not part of the move
  • Collection and removal of old appliances or technical equipment by prior arrangement
  • Removal of waste materials and packaging from all rooms
  • Organization of disposal to landfill or recycling center as needed

How to prepare an empty apartment for handover

Basic cleaning after the move prepares the space for handover to the owner or new tenants. Dust is removed, floors are wiped, and all parts of the apartment are checked to ensure cleanliness. Special attention is given to the kitchen and bathroom, where it is verified that no food residues, hygiene products, or packaging remain.

All rooms, including terraces and storage areas, are inspected to ensure the space is ready for use. Cleaning of thresholds, door handles, and removal of moving traces from walls, doors, and windows is also important. By agreement, some equipment or furniture can remain for new users. If additional packing or storage is needed, we recommend storage of items or moving boxes. Remaining bulky items can be removed through old furniture removal.

Office and commercial space cleaning after the move

For commercial spaces, after the move the focus is on removing remaining equipment, cables, promotional materials, and basic cleaning of floors and work surfaces. Often, it is necessary to temporarily store worn-out equipment until removal, as well as sort papers and promotional materials for recycling.

Basic cleaning includes dusting office desks, cleaning hallways and common areas, and removing tape, labels, or adhesive residues from doors and glass surfaces. Special care is taken to keep entrance areas, receptions, and hallways accessible for final inspections or property manager reviews.

Which additional tasks require special arrangement

Removal of specific items such as old household appliances, white goods, large amounts of construction waste, or medical equipment is arranged separately. Such waste may require special transport or disposal. Clients often request removal of heavy pieces like sofas, wardrobes, metal shelves, or industrial machines, which requires additional workers and special equipment. If the space is full of unnecessary items, removal of items to landfill can be organized separately from cleaning.

In case of specific requests, such as removal of old doors, windows, or interior parts, all details must be agreed upon in advance for proper logistics. If storage is needed before pickup, please see our storage service. For removal of old kitchen elements or equipment, additional charges and special arrangements may apply. The client can set priorities, which facilitates planning and optimizes the duration of the job.

Access to water, electricity, and cleaning schedule organization

Scheduling depends on access to the property, working hours, and parking availability for loading vehicles. Access to elevators or staircases affects the duration and organization of the job. If the property is in a zone with special traffic regulations, early planning and possibly obtaining entry permits are required.

Especially in office buildings and centers, cleaning must be coordinated with the building's working hours and the work announced to security or the manager. The client must ensure unobstructed access to the premises and provide information about special requirements for passage, protection of hallways, or use of common areas during cleaning. The appointment is confirmed in advance, with the possibility of adjustment in case of unforeseen circumstances. It is recommended to specify technical details precisely, such as staircase width, elevator availability, and potential obstacles, to avoid delays.

The guys were great! They arrived quickly, professional, polite, and it was no problem that they carried the machine into a building without an elevator. Great experience!

What affects the price of cleaning after moving

The assessment of the scope of work and costs is based on the size of the space, the amount of waste, and the type of tasks. Each job is individual, and details are arranged with the client. The estimate takes into account the number of rooms, the floor level of the building, the presence of an elevator, and the total amount of items to be removed.

The client can provide photos of the space or a list of items to be removed, which speeds up the process and allows for an accurate offer. During the inspection, the time needed for basic cleaning and the number of workers are evaluated depending on the complexity. For an accurate offer and free estimate, contact us via the estimate inquiry form or by phone.

Final inspection of the space before handing over the keys

After cleaning and removal of items are completed, a joint final inspection is conducted with the client. The space is reviewed to verify that all agreed tasks have been fulfilled. The client is informed about the condition of the rooms, with special attention given to areas where items or packaging were left behind.

During the inspection, it is also checked whether all stickers, tapes, and traces of the move on door handles, floors, and walls have been removed. Additional interventions can be arranged on-site before the final handover of the space. The final inspection allows the client to confirm the quality of service and ensure the space is ready for the next users without additional obligations. This check is especially important during the handover of commercial premises, where it is often necessary to prepare a report or confirmation of the condition of the property.
